  1. Thanks for this Here in Ireland where if its not raining it will be shortly I have started using a cheap poncho (as backup) that also doubles as a ground sheet – this is in addition to my preclip waterproofs which wet out after 3 or 4 hours of rain.

  2. I’m in Oregon. If I never hiked in the rain or drizzle, I’d never hike. So, learn to be comfortable with rain, recognize the signs of hypothermia, how to keep your gear dry, and know how to get warm and dry afterwards. Grew up using bread bags in shoes in winter, LOL. For a lightweight tarp, look at the Coalcracker Bushcraft T6-Zero.
